PGA Instructor

Meet Alec Sailer

Alec is a UNLV PGA Program graduate, five-time collegiate tournament winner, and former Altus Performance coach — bringing Las Vegas roots and world-class coaching experience to GGA.

"I’m excited to coach with like-minded people in a city that has meant a lot to me, and to help bring a new and interesting approach to coaching that Vegas hasn’t seen much before.”

How his journey began.

From early swings to collegiate success & beyond.

Alec first picked up a club at three years old because his dad was a golfer and wanted him in the game. By 11, he was competing in junior golf against future PGA Tour players like Bryson DeChambeau and Kurt Kitayama. At Centennial High School, he rose to the top of the lineup as a top ranked player during both his junior and senior years.

At UNLV, Alec’s success took off. He won five PGM program tournaments, maintained a 72 scoring average, and had the honor of representing the program at the Jones Cup in Florida against 18 other PGA University programs.

Alongside his playing career, Alec has been immersed in elite coaching environments. Most recently, he worked at Altus Performance — the academy built by Cameron McCormick, Jordan Spieth’s longtime coach. His time there, plus mentorship from leaders like Cameron McCormick, Nick Dunn, Mark Govier, Guillaume Biaugeaud, and Matt Henderson, gave him a foundation of world-class training methods he now shares with his students.

"I wouldn’t be where I am today without them. They’ve all been so generous in helping me along my journey, and I truly appreciate everything they’ve done for me.”

Coaching Philosophy

Alec believes great coaching starts with the player, not the model. Every golfer moves differently, learns differently, and has their own goals — so instruction should be built around the individual. His focus is on helping players remove barriers, build confidence, and develop tools that hold up in competition and beyond.

"There’s no one way to swing the club. Everyone is built differently and has the ability to achieve whatever they’d like in this game. My job is to break down barriers and build up their confidence to do that.”

The essentials.

Get to know Alec.

Alec continues to play competitively with the goal of qualifying for the PGA Championship as part of the Team of 20 PGA Professionals. Away from the course, you’ll usually find him at the gym or behind a computer screen playing whatever game has currently caught his interest.

What you can expect working with Alec.

“My job is to help you achieve your goals — not the goals I want for you. I’m a big believer in having fun, because if we aren’t enjoying what we’re doing, then why do it?”
